A year after the betrayal of a former oath-mate, a modern-day knight sets out for a snowy, Alaskan waste in search of vengeance. In slaying the traitor, however, the knight acquires a new enemy, a grieving madwoman who follows the counsel of a demon.
Next, envoys from a race of bestial shape-shifters emerge from the underworld after millennia of exile. They bring word of a prophecy foretelling the oath-mates’ journey down the ominous Road of Bones, from which no man or beast ever returns. Hoping this might be the location of a missing companion, the oath-mates undertake the perilous trek.
