The story of the English bull terrier, Pepsin, or Pep for short, a Blue Ribbon winner at the New York dog show, who follows his master, an American surgeon, to France when he is called up serve in the first world war. Even on the journey over there is adventure enough: their ship is torpedoed, and Pep bravely rescues a little girl from drowning. And when his beloved master is left alone and dying in the Argonne Forest, determined Pep finds him and alerts Red Cross stretcher bearers to his master's whereabouts. A very touching dog story.
