Candlemas [61] is the first of a newly discovered series of stories from my great-grandfather John H. Watson, the close companion and chronicler of the famous detective, Mr. Sherlock Holmes.
This story, located entirely in greater London, starts in 1888 and ends in 1891. During a time of ‘Irish troubles’ and the actions of other European anarchist bomb-throwers, London is the victim of a heartless murderer who kills every Candlemas day, February 2nd. Neither motives nor suspects reveal themselves until the very last pages when you suddenly realize you had the answers all along.
